Savedra Chocolate - E-commerce Store (Case Study)

Background:

Savedra Chocolate was a packaging passion project that has become my most viewed project on Behance. As a growing designer, I wanted to expand my services beyond branding and packaging. I also happen to love browsing through amazing e-commerce stores like they're art. What better way to go about this, than to practice Shopify web design using one of my proudest works?

Solution:

Here's what the website needed in order to address its requirement.
Such elements are indicated in the wireframe above.

1. A bold, vibrant hero image that can catch anyone's attention. I initially thought of an
illustration to match the ones in the packaging.

2. Be able to show 4 of its products right on the homepage–to encourage customers to purchase all of it.

3. Provide a copy on how the brand is supporting cacao farmers.

4. A mouth-watering video on how the products are made.

Due to the limitations of a Shopify free trial and my chosen theme, some initial ideas had to be amended. For one, the original illustration had to be scrapped as it was not giving that WOW factor that is desired. Instead, product photography gives it a more straightforward approach. The moment you see it, you know what you're about to shop for.

It was also impossible to edit the theme's code without paying for it–making it impossible to change the fonts.
So I had to settle with Google fonts.

Lastly, the original illustration was moved to the bottom to give the page more life.
So it's not just clusters of information.
